A Symbol of Canadian Pride
On the south bank of the Ottawa River, the Canadian capital Ottawa is a grand symbol of what the country stands for: bilingualism, civic pride and wonderful vistas.
Facing Langevin Block (the prime minister’s office) is the city’s most famous landmark - the Centre Block parliament building. Its tall central tower and circular parliamentary library make a great photograph from Gatineau across the river, which is joined to the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Rideau Canal by a series of locks.
